Grease Hero at the Hawaii Ocean Expo

The Grease Hero team was at the Hawaii Ocean Expo last weekend. It gave our team a chance to meet with people and talk about the benefits of the Grease Hero on our watershed and ultimately our ocean. It’s no secret that our oceans are facing a crisiswarming waters, plastic pollution, and oil pollution are creating lasting damage on marine biodiversity. The Hawaii Ocean Expo was able to bring together people and companies interested in protecting and preserving our waters.

We are working to build a community of awareness around FOG (fats, oils and grease) waste. Many people aren’t aware of the lasting damage FOG waste has on our environment and waterways.

Did you know that…

…The EPA estimates that 65 percent of all sewer spills are caused by fats, oils and grease. The majority of all FOG-related sewer backups and spills originate in residential areas?

… FOG (fats, oils and grease) blockages cause sewers to overflow. The EPA report said that there are between 23,000 and 75,000 U.S. sanitary sewer overflows a year, discharging up to 10 billion gallons of raw sewage into the environment?

Incorporating the Grease Hero Into Your Kitchen Routine

The Grease Hero is designed to be placed into the top of your kitchen drain, so you can quickly and easily pour the used cooking fat, oil or grease (FOG) into it, and then promptly dispose of the entire drain guard. It is made with recyclable materials to absorb the FOG waste and can be thrown out with your regular garbage. This one easy change in your kitchen cleaning routine will save you money from costly plumbing repairs, the city from expensive sewer damage, and our environment from deadly contamination.
